What are Polos Cariocas de Circo – Viva o Circo?

THE PROGRAM “POLO CARIOCA DE CIRCO- VIVA CIRCO!” has selected 4 institutions with acclaimed performance, acting as accelerators, with the purpose of contributing to the development and qualification of the Carioca circus scene, in its different segments, through the transfer Of methodologies, modes, creation and management skills, through Artistic Residency and Aesthetic Interaction processes to be carried out at company headquarters.

Who it works?

Through public notices, artists and companies were selected for 4 specific residences, which find in POLOS the opportunity to increase their technical and artistic qualifications, to create and research new circus numbers, to assemble and present an unprecedented spectacle and to occupy physical spaces for rehearsals and assembly Of shows. All residences have a duration of 2 months, are free and directed to artists, companies or groups with proven performance in the city of Rio de Janeiro, provided all members are over 18 years.

Cia UP Leon

Over 25 years of existence, Up Leon brings in its curriculum the experience of setting up 16 works of art, 85 numbers and performances and 8 years of circus technical and artistic specialization workshops, making possible the insertion of more than 200 Artists in the labor market. Up-to-date with the most varied publics, from children to adults, from the singular to the exotic, from the traditional to the contemporary, Up Leon excels by a careful criterion in the construction of his visual identity, developing costumes with a high standard of aesthetic quality.

Sharing the knowledge and experience acquired over the years by the Company and the resident artists is to contribute to the development of the Carioca circus scene.

TRAINING IN CIRCUS TECHINIQUES
(10 vacancies – 16 hours a week – 2 months)

The resident artists were integrated into the qualification and technical and artistic specialization workshops developed for the Company’s cast. The curriculum is multidisciplinary, including beyond specific circus skills, art and body expression workshops.

CREATION OF CIRCUS NUMBERS AND PERFORMANCES
(5 artists or cias. – 12 hours a week – 2 months)

Artists have the possibility to research and experience new relationships with their apparatus and technique, aiming at the creation of new numbers and performances.
These have the technical and artistic coordinators of Up Leon to dedicate themselves to their research / experimentation and the choreographic composition of their number / performance, as well as receiving the production of costumes and research / composition soundtrack for the realization of the number.

CREATION AND MODELING OF SPECTACLE
(3 artists or cias – 12 hours a week – 2 months)

The three groups have all the technical and artistic support of Cia. Up Leon for the creation of a totally unprecedented spectacle, from the creation and conception of the script, passing through the scenic direction, direction of art, choreographic composition, technical preparation, musical direction And original soundtrack composition, lighting design, art production (costume and scenery) and visual identity design.

Experiment space
(2 cias. – 12 hours a week – 2 months)

The selected ones use the space and the entire infrastructure of Up Leon, during their residences, with the purpose of studying, researching and / or testing their shows and numbers. This is intended for groups that do not have training facilities, to create and finalize their artistic projects.
